For sale is a huge assortment of 8 diametral pitch spur gears and accessories. These gears were made in Boston Massachusetts by DIY gears from HDPE (HIGH DENSITY POLYETHYLENE) Please note that the buy it now prices are for the quantities that you choose and only for the item that you select. You may add several items to a shopping cart and checkout at the same time. Also note that all of the additional items that are seen in the photographs are for illustration and demonstration purposes only. The electric motors, stainless hardware and the measuring instruments are also not part of the sale.
These gears came from a place that made parts for arcade/amusement game like at CHUCK E. CHEESE'S AND DAVE & BUSTERS. These also came with other motion control item and some ticket dispenser mechanisms.
All of these gears are 8 DP AND 14.5 degree pressure angle. The face width is 1/2" The bore is .250". Each one of these spur gears comes with the appropriate length dowel pin for cross pinning this onto your shaft. These pins are .125" in diameter. If you are not capable of using this option you may want to purchase one of the blue hubs and tighten the gear onto your shaft using set screws. These gears have been machined out of high density polyethylene. This material is very strong and does not need lubrication for smooth operation. This material is easy to drill if you would like to add something like a cam to one of the gears to operate a micro switch or move something etc. Because these gears have larger teeth they are easy for the DIY'er to use and set the proper spacing to get a correct mesh. Please be aware that these gears are not designed for high horse power/torque applications. These are to be used with fractional horsepower or small DC motors or hand input crank power.
The motor is a 12 volt dc motor with a 1/4" shaft. Im not sure of the reduction ratio but the output is 5.2 rpm as shown on our tachometer. This motor comes with the 14 tooth gear and the blue adapter hub.
The gear rack is 21.6 inches long and has a series of small pilot holes indicated down the length so that you may easily attach this to your project or an aluminum angle. These feature a 1/2 tooth on each end so that they may be chained together to create a longer rack.
The aluminum hubs are hard anodized blue and have a precision bore of .250". each one of these has 2 set screws on the hub to tighten onto a piece of 1/4"shaft.
These hubs will only work on a gear that is 12 teeth or larger. Any gear smaller than 12 teeth will not work with one of these hubs due to its small size.
Please note that these do not come with the 4 mounting screws that you see in the photographs. The length of these must be selected by the end user. These are easy to accurately install using just a drill press. For the samples we installed a short 1/4" diameter pin to position and pilot the hub. Then all four of the holes were drilled completely through the gear. Then we used #4-40 x 5/8" stainless steel screws to attach the hub. Once again for clarity each hub only comes with the two black set screws and you have to provide the mounting hardware for your application.
The precision drill rod is sold in 6 inch pieces. Please note that this was manufactured in the United States by precision Marshall and is extremely accurate. Please see the photograph of the micrometer clamped onto this material. This material is usually the exact diameter +\- .0005" This is not hardened and can be machined/drilled with standard HSS tooling. Buy as many of these as you need and the shipping is still just .50
The stainless steel set screw shaft collars are manufactured by Boston gear in Massachusetts. These are made from 304 alloy stainless steel and are extremely rust resistant. If you are looking for a lower-cost option I also sell standard zinc plated steel 1/4" collars in my eBay store. I am aware that these are a little pricey but they are made from stainless steel (even the set screw is stainless)and made in the United States and are very nice quality.
Buy as little or as much as you need and the shipping is still just .50. Please note that this rate is good only for the United States.
Once again please check my eBay store and you will find thousands of other spur gears that are made from steel, stainless steel, brass, bronze, nylon and other materials.
